With 35+ engineers, we focus on enhancing our product quality, reliability and performance. Besides, we strive to do cost efficiency plan for every possibility, we are not the one with lowest price, but we are definitely the one will provide high performance product with competitive price.

Technology Development

CTC pays attention to the talented person, from R&D, FAE, QA to production, we persist in searching and recruiting outstanding person in their fields. Other than 50% people in production, we invest a lot of resources in R&D people and keeping experienced engineers: We have revenue are invested annually, internal training programs are sufficient; we also co-work with external institutes such as ITRI, Labs and Academic research.

CTC Customization Product

CTC dedicates to provide AC/DC and DC/DC power modules for many different applications, such as industrial, telecommunication, medical, railway, aerospace, marine, automotive and marine..., etc.

In the last five years, we have delivered over thousand customized solutions world-wide. With a wide technology base and decades of experiences, we are confident to generate a competitive solution in a short cycle time matching specific requests covering different kinds of applications and power ranges.

Customization Process

Real Case

In March 2014, CTC received an inquiry from customer to co-work with ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) to develop Medical LED Endoscopy for the following specs:

- High Voltage LED with buck boost circuit:
48 input voltage, 42-44V output voltage, and 2.6A high
constant current
- 8 channel laser light
- PWM dimming frequency (100 ~ 20KHz)

This is not the first time that CTC co-develop with research institute, we’re striving for breakthrough technology thus we are open-minded to have any opportunity to applicate our capability. In this case, we are responsible for the electricity design of laser surgery, especially the PWM dimming frequency, it’s limited to use MLCC and also it will cause abnormal sound when the dimming frequency is low, the engineers works hard to optimize circuit and finally overcome the challenge in 4 months.

It’s a big issue on making trade-off decision between product dimension and product life for power converter design. Unsurprisingly, what customers request is always compact size with long life time. For the purpose of containing cost within budget, CTC makes the modification with our previous product. The power wattage is increased to 10W, and we successfully satisfy customer’s need to reach long life time (E-cap>50,000 hrs). Furthermore, the input ripple current and capacitor temperature reduced as per customer’s request. The product specs:

- AC-DC 10W
- Dimension: 24.5 x 38.1 x 16.75 mm
- No load power consumption
- Pass UL 60335-1 (Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances)

CTC is committed to helping customer solve problem, and customizing new product according to customer needs.

In December 2015, we received an inquiry to create a power converter for industrial control. The size is constrained and thermal issue is critical. Because of size and thermal are conflicting, we cannot have additional parts such as heat sink to resolve surge voltage problem. It’s really a challenge that we need to complete the project in tight schedule and meet the following specs:
- 5:1 Wide input range voltage
- Industry SIP 8 package
- Efficiency up to 77%
- -40°C to 85°C Operating Temperature
- Design meet UL/EN 60950-1
In this case, we help our customer to resolve the surge voltage problem and keep the product in compact size. For customers, they can still use common parts in their product and no need to do extra effort for the thermal issue, no matter cost or design satisfy our customer.

CTC has 5% revenue investment in R&D technology and also co-work with renowned universities worldwide. In April 2016, we worked with a team from a famous university in the United States to develop the core of power system. The requirements from the professor focus on the safety, the isolations among every stage need to be high enough.

- Efficiency up to 89%

In this case, we study from the concept, come out specific circuit design and fine tune the production process to overcome difficulties and problems. Evaluation of quality and benefit is also the critical issue, both sides exchange suggestions and share experiences to dig out the best solution. This cooperation is with excellent performance and we will go on for more and more projects in the future.

To overcome the design limitations of customer’s device and pass strict tests, we communicate with customer again and again. We change the circuit design and downsize the power converter to accommodate customer’s requirements. Moreover, we succeed in working out the problem that customer needs to solve urgently: pass surge test (line to PE 4KVDC) and dynamic load (0~50% load). The product specs:

- 40W, Eighth brick compact size
- 9-60V, 8:1 wide input voltage range
- Wide operating temperature -40~110°C
- High efficiency 91%
- High isolation 4KVDC

With EMC lab in house, CTC can complete a variety of test timely, we can meet customer’s need to pass strict tests. With 30-year design experience, we can help our customer to dig out the best solution in limited time. We can achieve great performance that meet customer’s expectation, in addition, the cost is well contained within budget.

NPI Flow

The introduction of new product to the market could be costly and time-consuming. To implement a design-to-manufacturing flow with lean process will be very important to eliminate and minimize potential risks. This process also help to execute “Dfx, design for excellence” principle that CTC takes as the highest guideline to develop new product. Customer’s profit makes our profit, we define the NPI flow to maximize the profit and working efficiency from achieving “time to market” and “market-oriented specifications”.
